Civic
League Program
New Beginnings
The Civic League of Greater New Brunswick created this program,
through a partnership with DevCo, to provide minority and women
residents of New Brunswick with the opportunity to get into the
construction field. The New Brunswick Housing Authority has partnered
with the Civic League to ensure spots for current public housing
and HOPE VI residents. Similar to the WFDP, New Beginnings offers
New Brunswick residents the opportunity to apply for entrance into
other construction trades, including: laborers, carpentry, masonry,
electrician, etc.
To qualify for the New Beginnings Program, a candidate must:
o Be a New Brunswick Resident (or HOPE VI resident)
o Have a high school diploma or GED
o Have a valid driver's license
o Be a woman and/or minority over 18 years old
Additionally, applicants must be able to pass a drug-screening
test, and not have been convicted of a Class A Felony.
